Matt, Thank you for your suggestions. See my comments included below: Matt T. wrote:
Configure the monitor with "sax2". There, check if your monitor is already recognized correctly. I do not see a Dell 2405 there, but it might be an OEM model, and there under a different name.
I also veryfied with Yast2/SaX2 that Dell 2405FPW was not on the list. (I've also seen someone told it is a TFT display with a Samsung PVA panel, but I have not model).
If not, choose LCD as a monitor type, and check if it already offers your resolution of 1920x1200 (it does so under SuSE 9.3).
LCD 1920x1200@75HZ is found on the list, not 1929x1200@60HZ VESA 1920x1440@75HZ and 60HZ are also on the list.
If not, there is somewhere the "advanced" option to add resolutions. Add yours, and sax2 will calculate all for you, and configure. But before saving it, it will allow you to test it, so you see immediately if it works, before you save.
I'm not sure where the advanced option is, but I looked under Select diagonal and Aspect ratio, but there was 21 IN the maximum screen size.
With LCDs there are usually no problems, I had this way my widescreen 1280 x 800 configured, in SuSE 9.2.
As said before, SuSE 9.3 already includes 1280 x 800 LCD, and also your resolution 1920x1200. It recognizes and configures my 1280 x 800 for X / KDE correctly, so it might also automagically configure your 1920x1200 LCD.
Well, I hope so, but I don't think so, as I couldn't find 1920x1200@60HZ on the list using Yast2/SaX2. As I haven't this display yet (currently ca. 2 months delievering time from Dell on this model). Terje

Dell has created a list of video card support (on Windows I expect) for this widescreen LCD: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/learnmore/learnmore.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s= bsd&%7Eid=monitors&%7Eline=desktops&%7Emode=popup&%7Eseries=optix&%7Etab=oth er
Any suggestions regarding proper video card and possibly knowledge or expectiations of Suse 9.3/Xorg support for this wide LCD are welcome.
