Has anyone successfully configured a Lexmark X1185 (or X1150), which is one of their
"All In One" printers, with SuSE 9.2? I have googled for drivers, looked on the Lexmark
site, etc. I found a similar question in sourceforge, and the only answer was that the
Z600 driver worked fine (for printing). But this driver isn't among the choices in Yast's
printer setup. Yast automatically chose the "1100" driver, and when I try to test it I can
hear something from the printer for a second, but nothing prints. Any info would be
appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike

This worked out great for me - except I could not use the CUPS manager. Whenever I open the CUPS manager (http://localhost:631) and try to manage printers (or add one), it asks for a username and password. This happens on both my home and office boxes. No matter what I enter (as root or a normal user), I get "Authentication Failed". Any ideas? Oh yeah - after installing the Z600 driver, I was able to configure the printer through Yast just fine. :) Mike ------------------------------- Cleary_Mike@emc.com ------------------------------- A wink is as good as a nod to a blind horse. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Penrod [mailto:ppenrod@earthlink.net] Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 3:02 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] Lexmark X1185 and SuSE 9.2 Mike, http://users.netwit.net.au/~pursang/lex.html Follow the directions on the web page, especially the symbolic links: ln -s /usr/lib/libtcl8.4.so /usr/lib/libtcl8.3.so ln -s /usr/lib/libtk8.4.so /usr/lib/libtk8.3.so You will be using CUPS manager (http://localhost:631) to setup your printer. Also look back over the last 3 days. I just went through this exercise. ...Paul Cleary_Mike@emc.com wrote: - -
