More tragically still, I expect that means I will need a PC with a 'doze partition in order to play, something I've not had for a year or two (tell me if you've heard different) and a fancy new graphics card, those recommended appear to be the NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra, GeForce 6800 GT, GeForce 6800 GTO*, GeForce 6800, and GeForce 6800 LE.
The good news: Doom3 can be played natively under linux http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom/ All the videocards you mention work just fine under suse 9.2 (make sure to get the latest nvidia drivers), however, be aware that many of these require (a lot) of extra power. I have a geforce 6800 sitting here that I cannot use (yet) as it requires (at least) a 500W power supply, and the machine I wish to use it in has only a 250W . And the 500W is a hard limit. I've tried the card in a machine with a 480W powersupply and it didn't work/ Currently listening to: pj2003-07-08d2t04 Gerhard, (faliquid@xs4all.nl) == The Acoustic Motorbiker == -- __O Allways look at the bright side of life =`\<, but (=)/(=) that's only possible from the Dark Side
