The server replied: LOGIN failed' I'm using the same userid & password as the one i'm logged-on with at my workstation. Heeeeeeeeeeelp ? On Thursday 02 December 2004 15:34, James Knott wrote:

Hi James, I think that my problem was that in the configuration i've done with Yast, i'dd choosen the option 'deliver to Cyrus IMAP' or something like that. From your explanation, i think i need to take the option 'LOCAL', and then point my email-client to localhost, with userid & password of my linux-box. Am i correct in this ? Perhaps i'm searching a solution that's too difficult, and it's easy :-) How do i configure the sending of mail then ? Does this point also to localhost ? How did you do that ? Do my sent emails come into a folder in IMAP also then ? Kind regards & thanks in advance ! Franky.
That's correct, point the e-mail client to the username on localhost or computer name. You'll also have to use SSL. As for sending, there's no difference, from using a pop server. You just configure the smtp server as before, using the info provided by the ISP. However, one thing you may want to do, is to save sent messages in a folder on the imap server.
