I thought that I had CDs down, until I came across SACDs (sp?) I'm guessing they are essentially DATA CDs configured for specific HW players. Can one play with SACDs on PCs?

SACD stands for 'Super Audio CD' and is the competitor of DVD-A from Philips/Sony. It offers you superb audio quality in stereo and (optional) multi-channel. It is intended for hifi freaks :-) Yes, you need a SACD player. However, the (somewhat) more expensive DVD players can also play SACD and the're even DVD players that can play DVD-A also. Yes, you can play a SACD in your PC because the SACD standard provides backward compatibility for this. Each SACD is multi-layer, and one layer is the 'plain old CD'. So even on a 'old fashioned' CD player you can play SACD's, en thus in your computer. Hopes this helps somewhat in your quest :-) Regards Harry
