The symlink appears to be: /boot/vmlinuz -> /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8-24.5-default (or whatever version you're using) Once you're chroot'ed into your regular drive, just linking those might fix it. In case you're not sure how to make a symlink, it'd be: cd /boot link -s vmlinuz-2.6.8-24.5-default vmlinuz (reboot) The good rpms are under ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/9.2/rpm/i586/ Thanks, you helped me on the way. I did this to get it all working: Boot the rescue cd, mount my partition. Cd'ed to it, and made links as follows ln -s vmlinuz-2.6.8-24.8-default vmlinuz ln -s initrd-2.6.8-24.8-default initrd As for as I can see, everything is fine now.
