I am running a nice new K8NS Pro with an AMD64-3000 on it and have installed 9.1 ( because I don't have 9.2 yet ).
It's running with a single ATA100 hard disk, because that was on the shelf, an FX5500 graphics card, and 512Mb Ram. I've unplugged everything else including the DVD drive while I play.
The problem I've got is that it keeps shutting down. Switch it on, play with it and everything seems fine, and I've set up Apache2 which is what I want to run eventually with PHP5 and Firebird2, but when I go back to the machine a few hours later it has switched off.
I've the same motherboard in a second machine running WindowsME/Apache2 ( don't ask ;) ) and that is running 24/7, but the Linux box just dies.
Anybody any experience of this motherboard? Is this a case of needing 9.2? I had downloaded the kernel update, but after the first crash I wiped the disk and reinstalled, and updated everything but the kernel. I'm tempted to drop windows on just to see if this is software or hardware, so any help would be appreciated :)
I had the same problem, 2 boxes, same everything, both Linux and one would do that. I found the CPU was overheating, so I installed a larger heatsink. If you can get sensors up and working, it'd be a good idea to check the temperatures. I the heatsinks are the same, check it's seated properly. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ....
