Paul, If this monitor is not in the database of monitors, then add it to the list/file. I'm guessing you know the specs and can simply follow one of the examples in the monitor database file to add it. Have you checked already to see if it is there already?
You can find the database here: /usr/X11R6/lib/sax/api/data/cdb/Monitors
after you check/insert your monitor, then drop down to init 3 and run your sax2 for the corrected setup.

Lee, to me having to manually update the database of monitors involves too much work. The new entry will typically want to know the monitor's DDC value (NOT stated in typical monitor documentation) and maybe even a Modeline value (*hard* to calculate!). Much easier to just tell Sax2 the monitor is generic. (I forget - Sax2 might even have an option to override the generic's synch ranges with your own explicit values.)

Mikus, The thing is, you don't need to set all that stuff, if you don't have it! I've been doing it for a monitor I've got for some time now and it has worked nicely with only the monitor brand, model, H & V limits and the DPMS option. This monitor is included now, so it's not necessary any longer, but if you try to get too detailed with the info, you take the chance of hurting something if you guess wrong or it just continuing not to work. Have you tried using the disk that comes with the monitor? There is an option in the monitor settings that allows you to use the disk, that you might normally use for Windows setup to define the settings. All in all, from my experience, it's been better to include the monitor in the database before running sax2. regards, Lee -- --- KMail v1.7.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!"
