I don't manage to get lirc working. I use SuSE 9.2, the lirc rpm is installed and I'm logged in as root. In /etc/sysconfig/lirc I added these lines: LIRCD_DEVICE="/dev/lirc" LIRCD_DRIVER="default" LIRC_MODULE="lirc_serial" In /etc/lircd.conf is the config file for the remote control. It is provided on lirc.org. This is the /etc/lircrc file: begin remote = TECHNISAT_ST3004S button = 0 prog = irexec repeat = 0 config = echo "Hello world!" end "dmesg | grep tty" returns: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A Set up the serial port: setserial /dev/ttyS1 uart none Loaded the module: modprobe lirc_serial And started lircd: rclirc start Which returns: Starting lircd (/dev/lirc) done "rclirc status" returns: Checking for service lircd running So far it seems to work. But when I start "irw" to monitor the signals of the remote control nothing happens and "rclirc status" returns: Checking for service lircd unused What am I doing wrong?
