KDETV, volume control on 0 but still sound leakage

Have a small problem with the volume control during the use of kdetv on SuSE 9.1. I have a small TV image in the left corner of my screen in order to keep track of some of the TV programs I want to follow. Whatever I do sound is leaking. The volume can be set to mute or zero but I still get sound. The only thing I can do is turn the volume of the speakers on zero. Have looked into all niches but do not seem to solve this nuisance.
