On an AMD64 system with suse 9.1 I am trying to install the new gnome packages -- but.... Am I OK to force it, or is this an issue with 64 bit that I am seeing???
It could be - I'd say don't force - you won't gain much, ulb-gnome is basically a meta package, some wallpapers, menu items, and config scripts. (Being a meta-package means it depends on a bunch of other packages, which themselves comprise GNOME 2.8.x) All those packages it says won't be installed are in the same APT component as ulb-gnome, the point is that whereas ulb-gnome is built for no specific architecture, because it has no executables in it, everything else is built for i586. I don't have a 64bit machine I'm afraid, so I can't build for it. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org GNOME for SuSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms
