One of the PR announcements made a reference to the price of the Pro Update. I'm still looking for pre-order options for it. So far, only the full boxed set for the Pro version is showing up.
Having used the 'update' package for several SuSE versions, I've come to the conclusion that 'update' refers to moving from the 'Personal' at a given version to the 'Professional' at that SAME version, and __not__ to an "update" from a previous SuSE version to a newer SuSE version.
No. The SUSE Pro Update has the same DVDs, CDs and Admin Guide as the full Pro package. The SUSE Pro Update does not have the User Guide.
In other words, compared to the 'Professional' package, the 'update' package includes the CDs/DVDs and the Administration Guide from the 'Professional' package, but leaves out the User Guide.
Correct.
The 'update' package saves money over the full 'Professional' package,
Correct. Only the User Guide is missing and what, about $30US?
since SuSE thinks you already *have* a User Guide from when you purchased the 'Personal' package which you are now "updating" to the 'Pro' level.
Incorrect. SUSE is giving you a price break with the SUSE Pro Update because they assume you are an experienced SUSE or Linux user that really doesn't need the User Guide but does want to save some money.
