Not on my system. 9.1 with the latest kernel updates. I cannot burn CD's! Every burning program eats up all my memory (512) and the swap (1012). The burning stops after 50% or 75%. It used to work but after a kernel update ( months ago now) I faced this problem. Hope that 9.2 will rectify this.
Bill, hopefully things will work out on 9.2. I did a FTP install of 9.1 a few weeks back and my burner works just fine. It's a Memorex 52x32x52 IDE internal drive, which also works just fine with Win98, Debian and SuSE 9.1.
There were some changes that occurred between the 2.4 and 2.6 series kernels that might affect you. In 2.4 you normally used the scsi emulation for you're burner, and in 2.6 this was eliminated. (although still an option, and debated alot within certain groups)
If nothing else, backdown to the previous kernel, OR just roll you're own kernel and experiment.

I was planning on doing an FTP install of 9.1 because when I do it that way (and get all the updates via the installation process) I have usually not had the problems I experience when updating an existing installation via YaST. -- "Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio
