I'm trying to install apt that comes from the usr-local-bin site. I've downloaded all the rpm's that the site says I need but I am still having trouble installing apt and a couple of other programs. My main problem is that I am missing the libpopt.so.0 library. I have already installed the popt library from Yast.
Any suggestions?
You are trying to install (at least ) 2 packages. In case of trouble, narrow it down.
In this case you only need apt and apt-libs. Concentrate on those first.
Once they are installed, use apt (! yes!) to install synaptic, like this as root:
apt update apt install synaptic
You do not need apt4rpm unless you want to setup your own repository. So install it later, when you really need it. ;)
So, for now concentrate **only** on apt and apt-libs. Try to install only them, and if you get trouble, just report the output as you did before.
If you succeed, in installing apt and synaptic, you might want to use synaptic to install the rest of the rpms. ;)
