Hello,
I have come across couple of websites selling SuSE 9.1 pro DVD (ftp version DVD?) for about $12 to 15€. My understanding was SuSE 9.1 pro was not available for free distribution on cd/dvd, and had to be installed via ftp?
Bootable DVD based on ftp files would help so that the files don’t have to be downloaded again for every install. With a 5 to 6 KB/s connection that I have, I would not even attempt!
If it is OK (IS IT?) to build/distribute SuSE 9.1 pro dvd based on ftp files from SuSE website, would the procedure for creating a bootable 9.1 pro dvd for installing SuSE be documented? Links or pointers on how to get started would be appreciated. Or if the procedure is complicated (I am a newbie), is there a bit torrent link for such a DVD ISO?
Thanks but no thanks, I am not interested in warez or illegal downloads of SuSE 9.1 Pro, just the FTP version on DVD if it is OK to do so.
There's nothing to stop you from downloading the files from the ftp site to a DVD and using a boot floppy. Also, I recall reading an article a while ago, about putting a boot floppy image on a CD, to make the CD bootable. I suppose the same thing could be done with a DVD.
