I have to intervine a little..........
"The corporate releases, tend to be more conservative and less "bleeding
edge" than the consumer releases. For example, the current SuSE release
is 9.1, with 9.2 due out shortly. But the servers etc., are still on
9.0 or 8.2. IBM did the same thing with OS/2 desktop and servers. They
waited until the latest version had been in use long enough, to resolve
most of the problems, before building a server on it."
EH??? When you say "the servers" does that just mean what you or
your company choose to put on their servers??? That is far from the
"Server" version of SuSE. That's what SLES is all about. SuSE in the
enterprise my man. SLES8 is the current, SLES9 is just about due out
very soon, and is available via eval.
Just kinda as to what you meant by 9.0 or 8.2.....that's all....

Thank you for any answers.
Well, my crystal ball isn't working at the moment, but you could take a look at http://www.vnunet.com/news/1158060

That article is about Novell desktop, which is sold to corporate clients, not SuSE Linux, which is sold to consumers.
To Mr. Knott: It matter not what name it is called, just that I have a feeling both will be the same at that time, and users/consumers will be getting a crippled version of the business model. I happily use SuSe Ver.9.0 and ,regretfully, do not see any more "upgrades" in my future. :-(
