dvdshrink 3.1 & 3.2 works under wine and crossover office. You just can't navigate with "open disk" or "open files" to your dvd-rom drive. But you can assosiate in konqueror *.IFO files to be opened with wine (or cxwine if you're using crossover office) and then open konqueror and goto /media/dvd, or wherever you have your dvd mounted (or ripped), and click on VIDEO_TS.IFO. That will open dvdshrink which will start analyzing your dvd. After that you can adjust the compression settings and backup.
Thanks for the tip! Associating .ifo files under konqueror to invoke wine and dvdshrink is a neat trick.
This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you associate files under konqueror. With ifo files it does not remember the application.
konqueror -> Tools -> Configure konqueror -> File Associations -Ti
