The thread titled " 9.1 Yast Online Kernel Update HANGS on
ASUS A7N8X-E" sounds similar but no quite the same. Try
reading that thread for some hints as to what to do. The
install for this systemboard required the use of the 'Safe
Settings' install selection. This will set acpi=off,
apm=off, ide=nodma and others.
If your CD-ROM is the Master on the Second IDE interface
and you have one Harddrive on the Primary, add by editing
the your GRUB install's "Boot" to include hdc=cdrom. See
pg 21 in the Adnim's guide, "ATAPI CD-ROM Hangs While
Reading" second paragraph.
This behavior is starting to get repetitive with other than
your system. In the case of the ASUS board the YaST online
update of the kernel causes a HANG, it stops with no
messages. I must also be installed with the 'Safe
Settings' selection.

Hi all,
I recently tried an Abit NF7-S2 with SuSE Linux 9.1 and 9.0 getting only problems. I got lockups, IDE-DMA failures or both for different BIOS settings.
Does anybody successfully run 9.0 or 9.1 on this board? If so, I'd consider it a HW failure...
Thanks in advance.
