I have to agree with this person... It has happened to me, and there is nothing you can do about. It seems that if you let the system sit for minute it returns to normal, but I only tried it the last time that it happened. Everything but the keyboard works... pressing any key produces nothing but a beep, but if you hold the key a couple of seconds, then a letter or two is produced. Its an interesting problem. I am running a 2.4 P4, Dell Inspiron 8500 with 512 of memory. Kirk On Saturday 07 August 2004 11:42, James Knott wrote:

Saturday greetings,
I have just noticed an unusual problem with the shift key on 9.1 that I've never experienced in other releases. If I hold the shift key down for more than 4-5 seconds, I hear a short beep. Often, for example, when I'm also moving the mouse to highlight some text in a Konsole window running pine, the keyboard becomes useless. Pressing any in any window just produces more beeps and no response or output in the window. The mouse continues to work normally, but I must logout of KDE to restore the keyboard to normal. Has anyone seen this behavior?
Jim
Doesn't happen here.
