part of my boot.msg:
Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.6.5-7.104-k7-preem Loaded 19932 symbols from /boot/System.map-2.6.5-7.104-k7-preem. Symbols match kernel version 2.6.5. No module symbols loaded - kernel modules not enabled.
Install the kernel-syms package. I can't find package of that name on orginal SUSE CD's SUSE 9.1 Pro CZ Note, too, that installation of kernel-syms from the SuSE 9.1 media will give you an older version of kernel-syms (specifically, kernel-syms-2.6.4-52). After installation, you should run YOU to get the kernel-syms package up-to-date w.r.t. the kernel you're running.
Perhaps there's a more direct way of accomplishing this that I'm unaware of. If so, please let me know.
And if this sequence is necessary, perhaps there's a way of getting YOU to update the current kernel-syms package without also retrieving and installing the full complement of kernel packages, most of which are already present and which are a sizeable download, even for DSL or cable users and also a rather lengthy installation.
