In changing from a crt to a lcd monitor I was stymied for a while as the lcd monitor would freeze the boot process due to refresh rates which were too high. I couldn't figure out why as I had carefully changed the monitor designation and adjusted the resolution to keep the refresh rate within the lcd monitor's limits. I happen to see vga= 0x??? in the grub definition and when I changed the designation it worked! It's too bad that yaast/sax does not adjust the vga= parameter for a monitor change - it should as it's part and parcel of the monitor's settings. It should be submitted as an improvement. I know that there's a listing of the values for the vga=???? parameter - does anybody know where to find the table? I looked in the suse db but couldn't find it? -- Cheers, Serge [Naggar Consulting]
