If you really like Publisher, and want to keep using it, you might try Codeweaver's Crossover Office. While I don't use Publisher, I do use Illustrator, Photoshop and PageMaker (when I have to) and they all work pretty well on Linux.
I have never used Publisher myself, however, I receive sermons from several ministers that use Publisher. I am just hoping to find a viewer for them since I don't need the other features of Publisher.
See my other post. I also googled alot searching for some way to use publisher files a couple of years back. It's a format (*.pub) that really doesn't seem to be accessible to any other program. I'd love to be proven wrong. An alternative that may be available to you, would be to have your colleagues set up a Postscript printer (even though one is not attached to their computer), During the Printer Setup they should select print to file as the Output Port. I told the Printer Setup program in windows that my printer was an Apple LaserWriter printer (I believe this driver is directly available from Apple if it is not on a winders install disk). Any Postscript printer driver "should" do the job though. I named the printer PostscriptFile. After setting up the new printer they just need to tell Publisher to print to the PostscriptFile printer rather than their regular hard copy printer. nb for some reason windows wants to name these output files w/ the extension .pm, I just give the file a name like "file.ps" or change the pm extension to ps when it gets to me and it is easily viewed in linux using kghostview or many other programs. Another option is to use Freepdf (a winders freeware program that redirects printer output through ghostscript to create .pdf files). Once setup it operates much as the Postscript method described above. Freepdf takes a little effort to setup but the directions are quite good. Wouldn't be to much trouble for most linux users. The benefit here is that you may actually be able to edit the pdf file w/ kword. I tried 1 test document (w/ kword) and it had problems w/ text but images work, It could be a problem specific to the document though as other pdf documents have opened amazingly well. FWIW both Kghostview and xpdf both opened the Publisher document that was printed by freepdf correctly. Good luck -- dh
