Applications start so much faster when I'm connected to the internet than when I am not. For instance OpenOffice starts in about 15 seconds while connected to the internet and about 40 seconds when I'm not. Similar with Kmail, Konqueror, kedit etc.
I was told to put my localhost address in the resolv.conf file which I have done but it hasn't improved anything.
Can anybody help?

I had a girl friend that had a similar problem which was caused by ACPI, ACPI and even maybe APM. Anyway turned them off every where they could be found (kernel boot, yast2 and in runlevel) which fixed her problem.
I seems to have come from confused IRQs
Oh Yes! Try leaving gateway empty via Yast2/hardware/network card/(select yours)/edit. This is at least one way to check it. 73 de Donn Washburn aka N5XWB
I've removed the ACPI from the runlevel (and stopped it) but no change. Phil
