I almost agree. However, it is not necessary to put "SuSE", only the version, since the [SLE] already indicates SuSE List English, and it's not likely someone would be posting a RedHat question here. This would seem to be a constructive idea, and I'm for it. (I hope I can remember to do so!) OTOH, I would hope that not all readers of the list, especially the most knowlegable ones, would filter out all but their own distros. Also, of course, whoever agrees with me, please do not filter out posts that do _not_ have a distro number! --doug On Wednesday 07 July 2004 12:34, Hylton Conacher (ZR1HPC) wrote:
Hi all,
As a fairly long time subscriber, I would like to suggest that users of this list put their distro and version number before the question ie SuSE 9.1:keyboard error, or SuSE 7.3:Upgrade path. When the mailing list receives it, it prepends [SLE] on the front of your subject line, so there is no need to add that.
With the messages defined as above it will enable those of us who are perhaps still using SuSE 7.3 to filter the list output and trash those messages that do not deal with the distro number we are using ie 7.3/ Alternatively a list subscriber can keep certain posts ie on SuSE 9.0 only and junk the 9.1 postings, as SuSE 9.0 might be the next viable distro to upgrade to after 7.3. It will also enable thise in the know about the distro version specified to help the 'problematic' user.
Good idea, bad idea, should I crawl back into a PSU somewhere, comments etc?
