Does the fsck tool apply for all the available file systems? ext2, ext3, reiserfs?
Yes, but fsck is a front end only. Programs which do the job are: $ cd /sbin; ls fsck.* fsck.cramfs fsck.ext3 fsck.minix fsck.reiserfs fsck.xfs fsck.ext2 fsck.jfs fsck.msdos fsck.vfat Note that reiserfsck and fsck.reiserfs are just different names of the same file. "cd /sbin; ls -i *fsck*" will tell you which files are the same. -- A.M.
