Isn't there a separate php-mysql package and THAT enables PHP access to mysql? Or am I nuts? Or
both? :-)

Has it been confirmed that SUSE is not going to provide an update that will allow PHP/Apache2 to run with mysql? (and that those who need that capability have to go through the throes of a recompile?)
Well, that is not true.
I've SuSE 9.1 installed with mysql, php 4.3.4 and apache2 and everything is working just fine. and, in earlyer version of SuSE (9.0) the same thing, but compiled by myself.
Someone put a script on the list (info.php) which lists all of the config parms for php. And mine is showing --without-mysql. Yet I have picked up all of the YOU updates. Maybe it's just lying to me? (please don't respond to me as well as the list. I get two copies of the mail)
yesterday, i've compiled apache 2.0.49 and PHP 4.3.6, staying only with mysql from the installation of SuSE, and everything is working with no problems !!!
Even when apache was installed by SuSE, the online update provided updates and patches...
