I was able to get software Raid-5 to work fine on SuSE Pro 9.0. However on 9.1 I experienced similar problems creating a Raid-5 array on four Western Digital 120GB drives. After the fourth complete re-install and online update I gave up and created two Raid-1 arrays. I am using LVM to allocate my volumes from the two RAID-1 arrays - seems to be working fine, so far. - Richard -----Original Message----- From: protocol@hol.gr [mailto:protocol@hol.gr] Sent: Monday, May 24, 2004 10:51 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] [SuSE 9.1 Pro]- Raid-5 Has anyone else tried to setup a software Raid-5 using three or more disks? Having done it very easily in the past (8.0, 8.1,...) i can't seem to make it work under 9.1. The raid stops unexpectedly and the machine crashes.I tried to report this bug to SuSE's British and German offices but it is impossible to make them listen, since they consider this to be installation support, and installation support does not cover raid problems. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
