Hello, I installed recently suse 9.1 on my Dell Latitude C610 laptop. When shutting down the computer, either in KDE or through a terminal window, all steps seem to be performed properly, until the computer reaches the last stage before actually powering off. At this time however, it shuts down while making a "scratch noise", the same noise that is emitted in case of unintended power failure (ie pulling the plug, batteries removed). I had the same problem under Slackware 9.1, but not under Suse Linux 9.0. I had a disk crash recently, and suppose both problems might not be unrelated. Myconfiguration :Dell Latitude C610, 256 MB Ram, ACPI, last kernel version, as availablethrough Suse online support. Has anyone an idea ? Could this be an ACPI issue, or rather, the "broken Bios" issue ? What's different between Suse 9.0 and Suse 9.1 regarding shutdown sequences ? Many thanks in advance... galip
