Howdy, I'm basically looking for best practices with SuSE and suseconfig, something that allows me to take advantage of SuSE but still use the applications via command line and editing files like I'm used to.
I personally find it easier to have a central location for config files and on on my machines I have enabled SuSEconfig and I use the configuration files to configure things. When I add my own packages they also go into (in regards to their configurations) /etc/sysconfig/ for example my chroot environment creating scripts for apache, snmp, squid all go to /etc/sysconfig/ directory along with their init scripts placed in /etc/init.d with the necessary ##INFO for creating the related symlinks. My idea is when I update my machines via YOU or upgrade them to a newer version ( I seldom do it, I have only one machine which is 9.0 the rest is 8.2 and the SUSE 9.1 pro box which came almost week ago still untouched) I will have the minimum hassle.
