I am going to buy a Palm pilot, and it is essential for me that I works 100% with SuSE Linux (I am currently running 9.0) and KDE applications such as Korganizer, KAdressBook etc.
I can't tell you about the KDE apps because I use JPilot for my Palm, but you should have no problems connecting to a Tungsten C or E (I have a Tungsten T); they might be too new for SuSE 9.0 (the device IDs need to be included in the kernel module that talks to the device) but I don't think so. As for the KDE apps - are you saying that you absolutely need to have your contacts and diary synced between specific desktop apps and the Palm? I believe that KPilot does bundle KDE apps together like this, but I'm not sure which ones (as I said, I use JPilot, which is an all-in-one solution). The KPilot site would be the best place to check for this, I would think. If all you need is a Palm Desktop replacement (i.e. access to all the Palm databases on your linux desktop) then you will have no problems - there are several solutions to this. I use JPilot (which works like an enhanced Palm Desktop), but you could also use KPilot or even Evolution (although that doesn't give you access to the memos). So, in summary, you shouldn't have any problems connecting and syncing desktop and Palm, but (depending on which KDE apps you *need* to synchronise) you might not get all the apps working together.
