Hi--
Can someone tell me which word processing programs can read WordPerfect 8 format (for Windows)? I will be setting up SuSE 9.0 as soon as it is available, and I edit a newsletter whose files I get sent in WP format. I have (somewhere) the old WP disk for Linux. I wasn't too happy with the way it worked, or its lack of fonts. Does anybody know what the new Corel version does, or when it will be available? (It does not distress me to pay for software that works, and works well, so long as the price is not riciculous, or they want you to subscribe. Be aware that the latest versions of Eudora (Windows and Mac) are subs that expire after 12 months. I'll keep my old one, thanx!)
Thanx, all. ===========
Doug, KWord will read WP8 files, as will Abiword. I don't think OpenOffice hasn't had the WP8 filter incorporated yet, unless it is in the newer 1.1.1 version just released. There is also a program that will convert all your WP8 files into OpenOffice format and it works very nice! The converter file is wpd2sxw. SuSE is one of the few distros now that supplies the old libs needed to run WP8 Linux, if you think that would work better for you.
