Dear All
I am trying to rip & encode a cd. Grip will not see either of my drives (DVD or CDRecorder) while KAudioCreator does.
I have a fresh install of SuSE 9.0 with all available updates. The only changes made are that i have downlaoded lame from Packman.
My media directory contains:
cdrecorder cdrom dvd floppy
KAudioCreator is set to use /dev/cdrom and this works fine (ie it sees the drive but is really, really slow to rip and encode). Grip will not see anything if the Config -> CDRom device is set to /dev/cdrom.
Any pointers gratefully recieved,
My guess is that kaudiocreator is set to use resmgr while grip isn't. If you look in /var/log/messages while using kaudiocreator I'll bet you see lines with "resmgr" on them, while when you run grip you don't. If that's the case, the solution would be to make sure you have enough permissions on /dev/hdc, try "chmod 666 /dev/hdc", then try grip again
