What filesystem are you using, and which version kernel? Do you have sysfs in your fstab?
2. I cannot understand the ALSA parameter name change in /etc/modprobe.conf.
You can find out the options for a particular module via modinfo <module name>.
The portion of /etc/modprobe is cut and pasted below. So. what should I do?
alias char-major-116-* snd alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
This is your sound card module, snd-intel8x0
options snd-intel8x0 ac97_clock=0 enable=1 index=0
This is the options you presently have. They look correct for the version of Alsa 9in the newer kernels. Pre .9.3 IIRC used a snd prefix for the optoins, i.e. snd_index=0
options snd cards_limit=1 major=116
3. There are some complaints about MOUSEDEV.
No idea.
4. Several daemons are not started. Among them, I am concerned with "portmap"
