Does anybody know if "Sound Blaster Live! 5.1" works in SUSE Linux 9.0?
No problem, it works OK in my box with kernel 2.4.21 or kernel 2.6.1. Catimimi.
The SUSE hardware database lists it's not supported.

5.1 ISN'T supported!! I spent over an hour working on a box with one and "NADA!"
I've bought it anyway. It is identified as
$ /sbin/lspci | grep Creative 00:09.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 0a) 00:09.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Live! MIDI/Game Port (rev 0a)
and the analog output (at least line1) works OK. Perhaps something doesn't work but I connect headphones to it only so I don't mind.
I'm not satisfied with the sound quality of a built in "Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio" on a SuperMicro MB (SUSE 8.2). The SB Live! Player 5.1 has a much better sound.
