Thanks but no cigar. xcdroast-0.98alpha14-44 dies as well with the output below. One thing that annoys me is that it says "Average write speed 55.1x." Each time I try to write I get a different value, but most importantly I set the cd write speed to write with 1x. So why is it trying to write faster???
I also changed the size of the CD writer fifo to 16MB. This got me to about 80% of a 600MB image before it died.

If the new k3b works, use it. I shall compile the new k3b source under kde-3.2beta and check it out. I'm using the 9.0 xcdroast here, both under the SuSE kernel and now under 2.6.0-mm1 no probs, considering the big battle over cdrecord and ide-scsi in 2.6.0 between Linus and others on the one hand and Jorg Schilling and some others on the other hand. One lot says it has to go as IDE does all IDE devices, the other that Linux developers don't understand scsi code, however, Linus submitted a patch so ide-scsi works, but he ain't happy with it being there longer term.
