You could put the script in /etc/cron.daily/, "man cron" gives you the setup details. I used to see gzip'd files for /var/log/messages, like /var/log/messages.1.gz etc., which I don't see now, but it must be possible to use the date in the script to write a filename such as backup.10112003. Hi all,
Can someone please help me with a backup procedure that I am trying to figure out. I have a SuSE8.1 machine being a PDC in a small Windows network. I would like every day, at 12:00 midnight, the PDC to initialize a backup procedure where all the files of specific directories be backed-up. The problem is not to make a small script. That I have accomplished so far. I want to be able to have a 5 day backup with days on numbers i.e. Backup_Mon, Backup_Tue etc... I have no idea how to do this. Can someone please help me?
Thank you!!! Chris
