Nice idea but I've only 5Gb or so available on the portable. I have the dvd mounted under /srv/ftp/pub/SuSE-8.2. It worked fine for all other clients on our lan booting from the SuSE iso. I just can't work out why the portable insists on asking for the CD set no matter which installation source we choose. On Saturday 27 September 2003 16:22, you wrote:
I did the download install on my laptop before I got the SuSE 8.2 CD/DVD set. I don't have the CD set available and my drive handles only CD's. I use YaST2 to "Change Installation Source" to a directory, copy the files across the network from the DVD and install it from the directory. Regards Sid.

I installed 8.2 from our 8.2 ftp server on a portable today. It works fine. But when I come to install additional items it asks for the roms from the CD set. The *only* installation media in Yast is our ftp server and it is marked as on. The same is true if we do a dvd install instead. It always asks fro the CD roms. Most annoying. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Steve.
