According to the Suse 8.2 Personal package list ( found at http://www.suse.de/us/private/products/suse_linux/i386/packages_perso nal/index_all.html ), BlackDown is supposed to be there. But I am unable to find this package at every one of the Suse ftp sites I've tried (including ftp.suse.com!). Also, the Sun java package is nowhere to be found either.
Does anyone know what the story is here? Or am I missing something somewhere? It seems kind of silly to include so many packages that require a JRE (i.e. tomcat) without including a JRE package. =================
David, As others have mentioned, legal reasons prohibit the inclusion of the java, but it is made available from ftp. You can go here to get it from SuSE: ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/projects/mozilla/jre Or you could visit Sun as well for a newer version built by them for Linux. That version is the new 1.4.2 and is compiled with gcc 3.x making it usable in programs like Mozilla and OpenOffice.
