Hello The kernel refuses to load the aic7xxx module. Hwinfo also does not see any scsi devices. I think this is a SuSE kernel issue since I started a RedHat 9 installation on the same server and it loaded the aic7xxx module with no problems. Is the module loaded? Check this with 'lsmod'. Also, first try this 'manually'. So perform a modprobe, check it with dmesg, and ultimately try to mount the disk(s).

Hello!
I installed SuSE 8.2 on an Intel SCB2 platform. At the time of the installation I only had an IDE-drive. Now we added 4 scsi drives but I fail to make the operating system recognize them. The scsi drives are on an adaptec aic7899 scsi controller. I edited /etc/sysconfig/kernel and added aic7xxx in INITRD_MODULES and then run mk_initrd. However at startup I get this error : kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2
I use the updated smp kernel from SuSE Here is the output of cat /proc/version : Linux version 2.4.20-64GB-SMP (root@SMP_X86.suse.de) (gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux))
What can I do? Thank you very much!
