OK, after much turmoil I have finally gotten Evolution 1.4 to work and as a side benefit, the Ximian "Mozilla" (needed in order to get Evolution to work) is a vast improvement font-wise. However, I can no longer get Java or Flash to work even though the plugins are present. I've tried to manually set them up ("application/x-java-vm" and "application/x-shockwave-flash") but I don't know what the respective extensions are (i.e. .exe, .jre, etc.). Any help would be appreciated.
Well, the default Java in 8.2 is compiled with GCC 3.x so make sure that Ximian decided to compile their Mozilla package with this version. Then make sure that in your plugins directory under /opt/mozilla you have a softlink to the java plugin. If this isn't present then no configurations within Mozilla's prefs will make it work. Example of the link: lrwxrwxrwx 1 ben users 71 2003-06-18 17:06 libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/lib/BlackdownJava2-1.4.1/jre/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so You'll find the plugin directory in /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail and any attachment is intended for anyone with an email address and does not contain information that is confidential and privileged or that is of any intrinsic value to anyone.
