Was it this list where I saw someone discuss how XINE caused their SoundBlaster Live! 5-1 ALSA sound subsystem to break? Since using XINE to play a movie it cannot make sound and nothing else on my SuSE 8.2 sys can make a sound either. If I crank up the volume it makes 'feedback' type sounds. Adjusting things like KMix does not help. I got all the XINE updates at Packman inc the XINE-ALSA rpm, but no either.
Was it here that someone had a similar prob? ............ PeterB
It happens to me when there is an arts daemon active. Kill it and you will hear sounds. It looks like xine from packman inc have not the arts driver. I am currently using it with OSS driver but it has very low quality.
