My dhcpd.conf file look like this: ##################################### default-lease-time 1200; #20 minutes max-lease-time 7200; #2 hours option domain-name "timsbox.linux"; option domain-name-servers 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2; option broadcast-address 192.168.1.255; option routers 192.168.1.254; option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0; subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { range 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.20; range 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.200; } ##################################### Yet i still cannot get anything to work????? Windows still cannot get an IP from my machine. The firewall was the easy bit. I am only on a dial-up internet connection using ppp0, my lan device is eth0 and i can't change the DNS settings cos i use dial up..... this is fucked! every other linux os i have used did this automatically - why can't SuSE have a tool for morons????? the etc/sysconfig/dhcpd file has the following: ##################################### DHCPD_INTERFACE="eth0" DHCPD_RUN_CHROOTED="yes" DHCPD_CONF_INCLUDE_FILES="" DHCPD_RUN_AS="root" DHCPD_OTHER_ARGS="" ##################################### It also had another hundred or so lines of comments that didn't help much. this is the only problem i am having with SuSE... everything else is AWESOME.... :'( very sad.
