Bill and John, I had this problem awhile ago but i'm unsure as to what i did to fix it. I think it had to do with commenting out use agent in ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf. If that doesn't fix it I think I found the answer in a post about evolution and gnupg or gpg.
HTH
I found this in a saved message but it has to deal with kmail and openpgp ... Check the sdb: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/de/html/fhassel_kmail82.html
Maybe that'll help, tho it's for 8.2...

Hi Franklin, Uncommenting the 'use agent' did the trick for being able to decrypt in the kgpg editor...Thanks! As for the sdb, yes, I'd already looked at that, but I haven't had any troubles signing emails, but thanks again though. John - -- I needed fresh bugs for my SuSE gecko, and Linux penguin. So I went out and caught this huge ugly blue and red and green and yellow butterfly. They won't need fresh food for 3 months now. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+6QZ/H5oDXyLKXKQRAvW6AKCidD0llTO5UbzRIwp/WUr/IXoXogCdEETN 2FSPRTKmgndqb+nVx9d+NKI= =ttm2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
