cardids.txt is a file with PCI ids of audio cards and the correct driver for this card. But I found it yesterday: in the latest ALSA this file is dynamically generated when you run 'alsaconf' :-) However, thanx for your time and effort! Regards Harry

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where the cardids.txt file from the ALSA package is? I can't find it on SuSE 8.2 :-(
I ran the following commands:
rpm -qa | grep alsa | xargs rpm -ql | grep txt rpm -qa | grep alsa | xargs rpm -ql | grep card
...and did not find any file named cardids.txt (or any variant thereof). There are a bunch of .conf files though.
Also using locate yields nothing. I have the following alsa packages installed:

What exactly are you looking for?
