I upgraded from 8.1 to 8.2 some time ago. My onboard Via686a was working fine with SuSE 8.1. Now however with SuSE 8.2 when I play a sound, you can hear small cracks through it. What should I do to fix this? Thanks in advance.
I'd start piddlin' with the sliders in alsamixergui. It's like having a nice big grqaphics equalizer and you may need to 'tune' everything to be just right.
I just tried this out. The mixer, even in alsamixergui, doesn't look really spectecular with this onboard audio. I tried messing with the volumes, but it didn't seem to fix the cracking.
Does it have PCM and IEC958TTL? If it does, try to lower those a little bit. I have my PCM at about 90, and the TTL at about 35. John - -- I needed fresh bugs for my SuSE gecko, and Linux penguin. So I went out and caught this huge ugly blue and red and green and yellow butterfly. They won't need fresh food for 3 months now. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+0O5/H5oDXyLKXKQRAmwKAJ9PKyL5v3ulywP4BrAOQXXtijgKFQCdEyuG hAFFlQSC+c00dOG8Q01pqOY= =sdPo -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
