Yeah, because it's from the talkinghead journalists. I would say 3-6 months after 2.6 is released as stable would be a good time to start using it. If I remember right 2.4 really didn't get good until about .12 or .14.
Agreed, but the article says the Linus recently said he hoped to get 2.7.x started by July and that it is hoped (by who??) that 2.6.0 will be released in late June. Add on your 3-6 months and you get the fall. As to the 12-14 months for 2.4, I've read that nobody was happy about that and that efforts have been put in place to make the 3-6 months a reasonable guess. OSDL in particular has been focused on that issue. Greg
