Glad to know that it isn't just me! I tried disabling 3D and it didn't make any difference. Also I installed 8.2 on my work machine which has an Intel video card and that has the same problem. Maybe it is just my poor memory, but I am sure that the fonts were much better under 8.1.
Following the upgrade from SuSE 8.1 to 8.2 all of my TrueType fonts seem to be appearing twice the size and very heavy.
I can only assume this is down to a different screen dpi setting (the resolution is the same at 1600x1200), but have not yet found a way to change it.
I have been write through the FDU howto, but no improvement. Only the Adobe fonts look any good.
There doesn't seem to be anyone with similar problems which is worrying, as I have installed 8.2 on 2 separate PCs with the same results.
This seems to happen in all applications. I am not sure if it is relevant or related but the spacing between menus in OpenOffice.org seems greater than it used to be.
Thanks for any ideas....
Mike.
I have the same problem when using the nvidia driver with 3D enabled.
