.this one lasted almost 6 months and did the *same exact thing*! So now I have two expensive paperweights sitting here (by the way, I'm using the same serial cord on this Zoom as I used on the first and second USR modems, so it isn't the cord that's the problem). Had to get on the internet though, so bought a Zoom V.92/V.90 Faxmodem (serial) Series 0269, and it's lasted a year and a half so far, plus I found it on Pricewatch.com, so saved about $30 IIRR difference from a USR modem.
Hey John, I have had some similar problems with USR modems and I found their warranty procedures to be excellent. Called them up, gave a credit card number, they send a new unit and wait for you to send the old one in. If they receive yours the CC is not used. If you dont send the old one back they hit your CC. Worked for me twice!
And I. My first USR modem was a 9600. I have 5 of various vintages, all serial external and at or above 33600 on the bench. Even have manuals for several although they are not needed. Since moving to cable, the only use would be for fax. -- Patrick Shanahan Please avoid TOFU and trim >quotes< http://wahoo.no-ip.org Registered Linux User #207535 icq#173753138 @ http://counter.li.org Linux, a continuous *learning* experience
