I was about to purchase 8.2 but read that the amd k6-3d (i am using the 450 Mhz) is not supported. I checked the suse hardware database and it said it is only supported up to 8.1 I find that one hard to believe, but I have 8.2 on the way, and I have a K6-3 400Mhz, so I will let you know if someone else doesn't. I am already running a Mantel kernel 2.4.20, KDE 3.1.1, so I can hardly believe something would be so different with the gcc 3.3 stuff (I now have 8.0).
What I am about to share is Mandrake based, but may have some relevance. I have a K62-450 that runs Mandrake 8.1 perfectly, but Mandrake 8.2 won't even install. When I posted it on the Mandrake list, several with this CPU said they had no problems, but several also said they had problems just like me. Eventually the consensus seemed to be it is a matter of the chipset more than the CPU. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional KDE 3.0.0 KMail 1.4 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S.
