Do you have any "filter actions" that include piping through external programs? If so, I'd look to that as a possible culprit (kmail doesn't thread external action/filters -- if what kmails hands a message off to doesn't come back, kmail will be "stalled"...)
that said, I also see in my inbox an inordinately large piece of spam -- subject line is "kick ass, bro!" -- 109k in size, seems to have inline images included [claims to be a back-door entrance to an "age verification" page, thus inferring free access to nekkid pictures, even if you are underage...]
if you got that "spam" [and it somehow got past your pre-filtering stage] then perhaps kmail is choking on that...
I turned "lockfile" to "none" (from procmail lock file) and the locking stopped. However this is dangerous. So it seems that the lockfile is the problem. Does this ring any bells? Any ideas as to why it would begin causing a problem like this out of the blue? Thanks, nick
